In touching there are different methods of detecting finger & object.Most common is capacitive, Which is on smartphone's in now day's.
Another one is resistive & samsung uses new Surface that embeds tiny photosensors between image pixels.
Flatfrog uses another method.
It’s called Planar Scatter Detection, and it’s been used before, though
not to my knowledge on such a large scale. It involves propagating light
(infrared, I assume) through a thin layer above the imaging surface.
when a touch is provided the interference occurs in the that's how this detect the touch.
